Audio Essay and Podcast Reflection

The main difference in my opinion between the podcast and audio essay that we listened to was the tone. The tone of my audio essay was to inform the audience and use a more professional tone to communicate my ideas in a clear and thoughtful manner. For the podcast since it was 5 times longer I needed to make sure that I kept my audience entertained. I used a more conversational tone and examples from everyday life to keep the audience engaged throughout the piece. Due to the shortness of the audio essay it was easier to edit it to be more creative.

Reflection

After recording both an audio essay and a podcast I feel like I an easily reflect on their similarities and differences. In my opinion they are both engaging ways to relay information, but differ in the delivery. In my case, I thought the audio essay was a bit easier to execute. As the creator, did the research, came up with a script and had full control over the outcome. The podcast on the other hand was more collaborative and as a result was a little more risky.
