I like your interpretation that Hughes is yearning for the day African Americans will be treated equally because they are are the same as every other American and want to be proud of who they are.
3. I would say along with interpreting this poem literally, what else would Hughes be referring to? maybe segregation since they can't eat at the same table? etc.
