Video Poem:
The video poem was one of my favorite projects to complete in this course, albeit one of the more difficult projects. One of the things that made the video poem such an interesting project was the number of different components that went into its creation. We had to choose music, video clips, methods of presenting the text of the poem, transitions between the video clips, etc. This made for a project that could be completely fine tuned to what I wanted to convey about the poem, and I felt that my final video was able to accurately display my interpretation of the poem I chose, Fire and Ice by Robert Frost. Working with Premier was difficult at first, but it became a lot easier after practicing and overall, I felt that making a project such as this using video editing tools could definitely be beneficial going forward if I ever wanted to create a video like this again.

Social Media Postings:
Creating the social media postings was another fun project, and also had its share of unique difficulties. Growing up in this generation, I’ve seen my fair share of funny memes and gifs on social media, however I had never tried to create any before. Trying to come up with a unique idea for a meme was a more difficult task than I thought at first. Additionally, I had never had experience using photoshop before, so trying to work with the layers and aligned text was difficult when we first started working on this project. Creating the gifs in particularly was difficult at the beginning, however once I figured it out it was a lot of fun piecing trying to create new gifs and mess around with the alignment of the text and things like that. Another cool thing about this project was the gif we made that was intended to have some sort of artistic meaning, not just a quick punchline like the over gifs and memes. You never really think of a gif as a medium that conveys something serious or artistic, so it was definitely a new experience creating this particular gif. Creating the Instagram stories was also a new and exciting experience for me. Although I had used Instagram before, I had never tried the story feature. All in all, this project taught me a lot about what goes into the media that I consume on a daily basis, and gave me some newfound respect for the seemingly simple things I see on social media.

Audio Essay:
The audio essay was the project that I would say I struggled with the most. I feel like speaking in to the mic for something like this is not my strong point, so creating an audio essay like this was not something that I felt comfortable with at first. It took a lot of practice to create an audio essay that I was satisfied with, but overall, I was impressed with what I was able to produce for the final product. One thing in particular that interested me about this project was the amount of research and organization beforehand that went into a seemingly short 4-minute audio essay. In this project, it was very important to choose my words carefully, and convey everything that I was intending to portray. Working with audacity was another thing that I had not had experience with before the course, however I can definitely say that I am comfortable using it if I ever had to complete something in the future that required the use of audio editing software.

Web site comments:
Collaboration was one of my favorite parts about taking this course. By collaborating with and critiquing each other, we were able to help each other significantly improve our projects throughout the course. Many times during this course, I felt like comments either from other students or Prof. Anderson helped by make my projects much more interesting and successful overall. In a course such as this which is based around creativity and how each of us interpreted different things, I feel like adding each other’s opinion and critiques was one of the most helpful things that could have been done. Being able to compare and contrast our projects to other students was also very helpful and important to creating the projects.
