Today we will move closer to wrapping everything up.

First, we will also go over the steps needed to submit your video:

  • Share/Export the video in mp4 format
  • Upload the video to YouTube or Vimeo
  • Submit a posting with the address of the video.

Next, we will conduct a brief writing exercise. Follow these steps:

Think about your work on the poetry video and these prompts:

  • What have you been wrestling with in terms of choosing imagery to include with the poem?
  • What decisions have you made that involve sound?
  • What have you been thinking about in terms of delivering the words of the poem in the video?
  • What insights into the poem have you developed based on creating the video?
  • How might any work that you have done on the video inform revisions of your poetry essay?

Think over all of these prompts, and then use the comment field on this posting to discuss your thoughts; write freely for about five minutes.

Once we have conducted and discussed the exercise, we will look at another example from our paper drafts, and then look at the submission form for the final poetry essay.

Also, note that you should submit the paper printout that I gave you with feedback as well by turning it in to me when you have finished your revisions.

After we have completed these activities, you can use the class time to work on your video or essay revisions.

Comments

I have been concerned that my imagery is too focused on creating the intensity and feeling that I want instead of interpreting the poem. I still like my imagery, but I don't know if I need to add more about the poem's themes directly instead of attempting to convey the feelings behind the poem. I'm going to get a second opinion tonight when I edit. I'm really proud of what I've been able to do with the sound. It sounds really good in my opinion, and I love the ease of building the video around the sound. My poet reads the work, and I don't think I want to include text. I want the viewer to have to pay close attention to the audio. I've learned a lot about the overall feeling of the poem. I have always imagined it a certain way, and being able to make that vision come to life deepens my understanding of my interpretation of the poem. I think the general work with hearing the poem over and over again and being immersed in the video helped in my analysis because I was more in tune with the poem.

  • I had to make sure the right images went along with the words. Mine was mostly in the woods so I had to find nature scenes.
  • I used a peaceful song with a peaceful voice reading over the poem
  • I made most of my words separated and emphasized the important ones.
  • I realized that at the end of the day the authors choice did not matter which road he took its all about the free will and what you want to do
  • This video made it inform that there are many views about the poem.

I had to make sure that the images I used fit well with my interpetation of the poem, I also had to make sure that the videos i used didn't distract my viewer from my poem. For my music i had multiple choices that i felt went well with my video so i listened to each track while watching the video to see which one fit the best. The video helped me find a deeper meaning to each word and find new perspectives for the poem. Doing this video helped a lot with my analysis because I created a connection with the words.
