There are some quotes that discuss an interpretation of the poem and seems to discuss what Maya Angelou does with her writings as a whole. The paper offers some reading of the poem by discussing how women should portray themselves and brings up a line from the poem. The interpretation of the poem is good, but it is only shown in a couple of sentences. The only concern I have is that most of it focuses on Maya Angelou and less on the poem. I would just say to bring in a couple more lines from the poem and incorporate them in the paper. I also feel like it'd be good to introduce what is about to be said or who is saying something before bringing in a quote.

  • Does the essay use quotations from scholarly articles to discuss what people have said about the poem?  Yes, you do a pretty good job of this. These help back up your points for sure.
  • Does the essay zoom offer a reading of the poem? And does it zoom in on details to make points about the poem? What can you say about the interpretation of the poem? The main focus could shift from the author to more of the poem but you do a good job explaining the poem so maybe taking out some of the info about the author could help in a way.The poem is broken down well in my opinion and I understood what you were trying to tell the reader.
  • And what would be the one larger concern that you have about the essay? What one suggestion would you make to respond to the concern? The only large thing is the focus on the author instead of the poem at time but overall I think that it's a pretty good rough draft.

There was a good use of different scholarly perspectives in your analysis.

You do a good job talking about the theme. Maybe bring in more specific lines for the final draft.

  • And what would be the one larger concern that you have about the essay? What one suggestion would you make to respond to the concern?

Overall it's really great, but maybe talk about specific lines.

  • Also, check the following mechanical aspects of the essay. (If you need to track down information on any proper formats or details, follow MLA style.)
    • Are quotations from articles properly integrated into the essay?
  • Yes
    • Are quotations from the poem properly integrated into the essay?
    • Yes

I think something is wrong with the spacing of your bibliography, but I can't tell what it is.
