Today we will spend a few minutes talking about image sizes and the use of effects on text.

Next, we will need to go over some logistics related to posting our final video poems and our Instagram memes. Here are the details:

To post your revised video follow these steps:

  1. Export the final video as an mp4 file.
  2. Upload the file to YouTube or Vimeo (create an account if needed)
  3. Copy the web address of the video once it has been uploaded to YouTube or Vimeo
  4. Take a screen shot of an image from the video to be used as a thumbnail. Make sure your screenshot is no more than 1920 X 1080 pixels and no smaller than 1080 X 460 pixels
  5. Go to the Add Content option on our web site, and select Revised Video Poem
  6. In the revised video poem posting, add a title with the name of the poem; upload the screenshot image that you have taken; enter the web address of the video; and compose a two- or three-sentence description.
  7. Submit the posting

To post you two Instagram memes, there are two stages:

Stage 1. Upload your images to Instagram

  1. You will first need an instagram account. (Remember you can create a separate account for this class if you don't want to use your main account.)
  2. Next, use the Google Chrome web browser to navigate to Instagram and log in with the account you will use.
  3. Next, from the View menu, select Developer > Developer's Tools.
  4. In the window that opens, select the Toggle Device Toolbar (second icon from the left) This will bring up a toolbar that will allow you to emulate being on a phone.
  5. From the Device Toolbar that opens above the main web browser window, select a phone display (e.g., iPhone 6)
  6. Reload the page if necessary to reveal the post options at the bottom of the Instagram web page (plus sign)
  7. Post your image
  8. Once your image is posted, use the three dots (More) option, and the Copy Link

You should now have the web address of your Instagram posting. Here is a web site with more info if you run into trouble

Stage 2. Add your Instagram posting to our web site.

  1. Go to our web site, select Add Media, and then Instagram (click this link to go straight to the posting option)
  2. For the Name field, add a title for the posting
  3. Enter the address of the Instagram posting
  4. Save your posting

I will go over this in class, but you will end up working on these tasks prior to class on Monday.

For homework, complete the revisions to your video poem, and upload it with these instructions; also complete and upload your two Instagram memes with these instructions.
