Today we will do some quick videos to get comfortable with our composing materials and tools.
In groups of three, choose a person to compose--all members using one person's computer. Download onto that one computer these files.
Open Adobe Rush, and navigate to the downloaded folder in the media window. Pick 8 items to import--quickly.
Think quickly about the materials, and then make a list of 6 words:
- A body part from a small nonhuman animal
- A two syllable verb
- A concept
- A sound
- Two nouns
Use the 8 items and the 6 words to create a 15-30 second video poem.
When finished, export (Share) the poem as an mp4 file, and then upload it to our site using the improv video option.
Work quickly, but also respond to one of the challenges below in the video:
- Challenge: incorporate the audio from the wheat clip
- Challenge: Using duplication, repeat a phrase from the 5X5 Portland Bridges clip
- Challenge: Incorporate cell phone format footage with other visuals at the same time, arranging and scaling the elements on the canvas
- Challenge: Add a segment in the piece that uses only sound
- Challenge: Cut a clip into at least five sections, and then edit them in the timeline to recast them into the piece
- Challenge: Deliver at least two of your words one letter at a time; this is required if using the Cannon Beach Oregon clip
Homework: Repeat this process on your own before Friday:
- Give yourself no more than 90 minutes
- Make your own choices about clips to use from the materials
- If you want, you can add up to two additional media pieces that you rip or collect online.
- Choose your own words for the piece, but keep a similar array: a small detail, a verb, an idea, some things. You can use between 5 and 9 words
- Respond to at least two of the challenges in the list above
For this project, also export the poem as an mp4 file, and then upload it to our site using the improv video option. Keep the videos to 15-30 seconds.
