This audio essay was super interesting and gave me a deeper look at photography and what it means. I had never thought about some of the points you brought up before, and I can tell how passionate you are about it. Sound-wise this essay is very tranquil. The music underlying your narration and bits of others talking is a nice touch. I do feel like you could shorten the essay and tighten up some areas. Overall, I really enjoyed listening.
I like the sense of mystery that opens the piece with the sounds. The musical lead in also works well. The voice is captured with a lot of power. There are spots where a bit of bumping or audio glitches in the narration pop in. The narration is working well. And the tone is nice. I feel like some more pauses in spots or ways of transitioning might be worked in. The lead in and out to the first audio sample are working well. In spots just a tad slower pacing for the narration might be good--just a tad. I wonder if the music might be dropped a bit for some of the more content-oriented areas in the body of the piece, perhaps making space for more presence for the ambient sounds. The second sample is also well woven into the piece; you have a knack for this weaving. If the music varies a bit in the middle, it can work toward a kind of building toward the end. I don't feel like much needs to be trimmed from the narration, but do feel like things are moving somewhat quickly in the middle right up until the last 30 seconds or so. Again, maybe some more room for transitions and a tad slower. The weaving in of samples is so strong that I hesitate to say this, but I wonder if ending on the clip of someone else speaking makes the most sense. I like that sample, but feel like you might at least think a bit about whether the music and your own voice have a role or might be experimented with as part of the wrap up. This is working quite well, so the edits and adjustments on the next pass will really take it to the next level. Great work.
