Audio and Storytelling Video

Create a video documenting and reflecting on your two audio projects--audio essay and podcast. The video should reflect on the projects to make interesting points about composing using audio.

You can use the work on your first video reflection as a model. You will want to record the screen to capture aspects of your projects. You will also want to be sure to integrate sound from the projects into the video as you discuss them.

You should also identify an aspect of learning or personal intellectual growth that you associate with the project. For this video, you should conduct some additional research related to the concept--if you choose collaboration or curiosity, you can find some educational research. This will not be a research video, but you should integrate into your narration at least one source that speaks to the concept you select.

Once you have a sense of something to say related to sound and communication as well as a learning concept, you can begin to put together the story. The story will be about the project, using narration to show your process and details about the composition. Look for opportunities to link those details with larger observations about the aspects of communication and learning you have identified.

Remember the possibilities for screen composing. Perhaps you have old drafts that you can screen record. You can also film yourself making edits. You can play through aspects of the projects, showing software moves or zooming in on materials. Strive to make the visuals interesting, editing in scenes from the projects.

Strive as well to make the narration compelling. Your first step is to create a storyboard and script. As you compose the storyboard, focus on picking out compelling visuals. Then write out the draft of the narration to accompany the visuals. Remember to plan to keep things moving in terms of pace. For your storyboard use this template to get started.

The storyboard and script is due before class on Wednesday, April 17th. Submit it with the Sound and Storytelling Script and Storyboard option.

Post your videos using Sound and Storytelling Video option before class on Monday, April 22nd.
