Curing the illness
One major
difference between the two versions of "The Yellow Wallpaper" was that in
the movie, the lady was taking prescribed medication, yet in the story she was
not. This "change" in the movie causes the meaning of the woman's "craziness" to
differ drastically. This difference infers that possibly the woman could have
been hallucinating because of her medication rather than her "rest cure" and the
oppressiveness of her husband. The movie made it a point to show that the woman
was taking medication, whereas the story showed she was not. This difference
added a new meaning into the movie that was not indicated in the story.
