Today we will start by discussing our readings. Here are some prompts we can think through:

Drucker

  • What can be gained by debating the R-evolution question?
  • How true is it that our tools are not humanistic? If we accept this as true, what follows?
  • How much humanities works is really probabalistic and performative?
  • How far along are we in the shift to making?
  • How do you get out of the conundrum or performativity, interpretatation, and ambiguity?
  • Capta vs data
  • Time vs temporality

Ramsay, Rockwell

  • What are the criteria for scholarship in the humanities? How do tools match?
  • What can be said about the MLA guidelines?
  • Is there print bias in the piece? In the humanities?
  • What else can be a theory? A play? A class? A walk?
  • In the terms of the essay, what can be said about algorithims
  • Is any tool neutral?
  • What can be said about writing as a technology? A technology for what?

Once we have concluded our discussion, we will move on to the schuduled 30 minute meeting for your project groups. For homework, complete any activities related to your group plan and milestones. Also download and install the Snagit software application.
