Assassin's Creed as a Pedagogical Tool

My project aims to look at video games as pedagogical tools for the study of the humanities. As a historian, I am particularly interested in the use of the Assassin's Creed franchise and its potential for teaching students about historical time periods "first hand," the role of memory, and the concept of historiography. I think understanding these games under the Digital Humanities umbrella will allow instructors to appreciate the many educational opportunities these games have to offer despite their alleged shortcomings as historically inaccurate and full of violent and sexual content. As the links and articles I provided demonstrate, innovative applications to teaching through the games is something others are currently exploring.
