Podcast Group Sprint

For our podcast projects, we will once again use the group sprint model to collaborate. The main goal is to each submit a compelling 5-10 minute audio composition that includes group conversation. There are three main outcomes:

  1. Develop a group plan with milestones and expectations
  2. Deliver a research-driven, conversational live podcast
  3. Produce successful individual, 5-10 minute audio compositions

As you work, you can plan around the following schedule:

  • Tues Feb 18 (45 minute meeting)
  • Thurs Feb 20 (60 minute meeting)
  • Tues Feb 25 (60 minute meeting; Reserve UL study room; Practice Podcasts)
  • Thurs Feb 27 (Podcast Delivery)
  • Tues March 3 (Podcast Delivery)
  • Thurs March 5 (15 minute meeting)
  • Tues March 10 Spring Break
  • Thurs March 12 Spring Break
  • Tues March 17 (60 minute meeting)
  • Thurs March 19 (Podcasts Due)

This project is more complex than the last one you participated in. You will need to break down the outcomes above and build expectations and deliverables into your group plan. You can decide the focus or activities for each of the designated meetings in whatever way will help you meet the goal.

For the rest of today, here are some parameters:

  • Build your group plan around the main goal of the project (deliver multiple successful podcast compositions).
  • The group plan should include a prioritized list of items for project success. Again use a format for prioritizing around must, should, could constructions.
  • The group plan should break down the larger task into smaller goals, using the meeting opportunities to help organize the work and timing. Also assign any relevant tasks and link them up with your schedule and smaller goals.
  • Again, spell out expectations for successful group participation. Set the expectations after you have sorted out the tasks and milestones.

Also today, identify the logistics for how you will work and communicate. Get to know one another and get contact information. Set up file sharing, etc.

You will compose the plan in class today using a google document. Please add group members to the document.

A sample outline might look like:

   Should do
