Follow these steps:

Choose one of the items below. Insert your cursor below the item, and then write about the projects in this class in terms of that item for four minutes.

Choose another of the items, and then write freely about the projects in this class in terms of that item for four minutes.

Choose a third item from the list. Without discussing directly the projects, write freely about the activities and processes experienced in this class in terms of that item for five minutes.

  • Creativity

I think the meme project really allowed us to express our creativity. We were able to express our thoughts on internet culture in a concise and funny way. I think being able to be witty is a true test of creativity. Photoshop was a great program that allowed us to quickly create engaging and funny memes. I loved that the program actually enhanced my designs and took them further than I had originally imagined for them.

  • Problem Solving
  • Critical Thinking
  • Leadership
  • Communication
  • Collaboration

The podcast project was the best example of collaboration. I was at first apprehensive about this project because I knew I would be presenting in front of my peers, but I quickly realized that the people in my group were bright and effective communicators. We had a free and easygoing conversation during our practice podcast run, and I saw that we all had great ideas and could use each other's ideas to create a really engaging podcast. Our presentation day went smoothly as well, and I remember that our podcast felt very natural and interesting to me. Collaborating with my peers was fun because they were willing to work hard and put forth amazing ideas.

  • Information
  • Risk taking
  • Adaptability

I had to learn to be adaptable I ran into big issues with my computer. Since I wasn't able to complete the projects because my computer was slow and old, I had to switch to alternative projects. I learned that you can get the same learning experience even if you may not be able to do what your peers are doing. It came down to how much effort I was willing to put in and communicating with my professor to make sure I could find a suitable alternative project for my portfolio. While I may not have been able to do some of the multimedia projects, I do think I was able to reflect and analyze the projects in a similar way my peers did.

  • Curiosity
  • Reflection
  • Motivation

Finally, choose one item from the list below. Write freely about the projects in this class in terms of that item for five minutes.

  • Logic versus emotions
  • Role of visual, sonic, and textual media

The role of different types of media develops different arguments in different ways. Usually, in the context of this class and internet arguments, I think media furthers an argument by making it emotionally stronger (people using compelling images/memes/gifs to further their arguments on Twitter) but it may not necessarily make the argument logically sound/plausible. I also feel that the type of media being used is important for clear and concise communication. In my opinion, the meme projects ended up being more effective at communicating arguments than the gifs even though memes are more simple than gifs. The simplicity of the medium actually made it more effective.

  • Networks and social exchange
