Follow these steps:

Choose one of the items below. Insert your cursor below the item, and then write about the projects in this class in terms of that item for four minutes.

Choose another of the items, and then write freely about the projects in this class in terms of that item for four minutes.

Choose a third item from the list. Without discussing directly the projects, write freely about the activities and processes experienced in this class in terms of that item for five minutes.

  • Creativity
  • Problem Solving

There was a lot of problem-solving that I had to do in this class mostly because a lot of the applications we used are new to me. For example, we used photoshop to create memes and gifs for the assignments in class and I had absolutely no experience in it. Due to this lack of experience, I had to problem-solve A LOT. This included using the internet, texting friends who had experience in photoshop, and just plain old clicking around and hoping that something worked. It was definitely a challenge and I think that there is definitely room for the class to expand on how Photoshop is taught to the students. For example, I think a lot of the in-class teaching was rushed and hard to follow or remember, especially since I was trying to do it myself rather than taking notes. In the future, I feel like having several video tutorials linked would be helpful. I know that there were video tutorials available, but I think going over them in class could really help students learn and also repetition.

  • Critical Thinking
  • Leadership
  • Communication
  • Collaboration

Collaboration was something I used most during the podcast project because we were assigned a group to work with. In general, I enjoyed the podcast project for the most part. I think that the most annoying part of it was trying to gather information because, at the end, I think the best thing to do was to just speak freely and do discussion questions. As for the collaboration aspect of everything, I feel that the groups were sufficiently sized and my group personally worked together well. I don't have any specific comments on how I would change everything other than potentially class feedback to the group who presented that day and maybe a chance to rerecord afterward. Other than that, I enjoyed the aspect of collaboration in this class because it made the assignment less stressful and more enjoyable because I got to hear other perspectives on something I was passionate about.

  • Information
  • Risk taking
  • Adaptability
  • Curiosity
  • Reflection

I feel like reflection played a big part in a lot of activities in this class. I enjoyed being able to reflect so freely on all my projects, but also I enjoyed how peers could also take part in reflection. The idea of peer review has always given me anxiety, but sometimes it can be extremely helpful if that peer is dedicated to doing a thorough review. For that reason, I feel like having a peer review multiple peers of their own can take away from that person giving substantial feedback. They won't take the time to reflect as much as they should because their focus will be on getting all of the reviews done quickly. Additionally, I also liked the option to reflect in class during the class period because I was able to actually focus on it and try to give my full attention to it rather than trying to rush through it so I could do my other work.

  • Motivation

Finally, choose one item from the list below. Write freely about the projects in this class in terms of that item for five minutes.

  • Logic versus emotions

I feel like logic versus emotions was very prominent during these class projects, however, the one that is most predominant to me is the Twitter analysis project where we took a look at tweets focused on a specific hashtag. People tended to express a lot of their emotions on Twitter rather than using logic and I saw this in other peers' projects as well (i.e. the anti-vax one where people didn't use any facts to support their claims). A lot of the assignments we did in this class tended to rely on emotions as well, although you could incorporate some logical appeal in there. However, the memes and gifs relied a lot on what we were feeling rather than sound logic even though we were trying to present an argument. I think this says a lot about how you can reach people with emotions rather than logic in a lot of contexts. People are more likely to get wound up by something insulting their beliefs because it makes them feel mad, even if it's logically proven to be correct.

  • Networks and social exchange
