  • Creativity

The creation of things such as memes, gifs, and apps, were a type of creativity that I was not used to. The template of memes and gifs require the creator to use an existing format or style of photo or video, and captioning it creatively. In order for the memes and gifs to be effective, they also need to have a strong aspect of relatability to them. Those who view them also need to feel the same way that the memes inspire them to feel, in order to go viral. It's a careful mix of common feelings and creative outputs which I feel is not seen in very many other places. The whole point of memes and gifs are to use the same template with different captions. Using the same template is not considered plagiarism, but rather transformative.

  • Collaboration

The podcast was a great example of collaboration. We had to present a panel of speakers to talk about a certain issue relating to the internet. In order to have enough researched content, everyone needed to research their own subtopics which can be then digested and interpreted by each speaker to give their opinions in an educational and conversational manner. In order to have a successful podcast, we had to work together and share stories with one another about our lives to interpret the information given to us. We also had to react to our stories politely and make sure to validate everyone's experiences to stay productive. By the end of the podcast, over 20 minutes had flown by with ease, something that I had assumed at the start of this project would be nearly impossible to do.

  • Information
  • Risk taking
  • Adaptability

The projects as a whole required a strong skillset in adaptability. From completing tasks which may have quick deadlines, to overcoming technological errors, adaptability was very necessary in our everyday classwork. Many times I felt that I did not have experience in what was required in the class. However, I learned through experience, and overcame the obstacles which inevitably would come when working for the first time in various programs. The helpful thing about having a class based on technology, though, is the receptiveness of said technology to make quick changes if you need them to, regardless of how drastic. If you have a video and don't like an entire section, you can cut it out rather than re-recording the entire thing. It's much easier to correct errors that you may have during the process than traditional things such as essay writing, tests, or homework.

  • Curiosity
  • Reflection
  • Motivation

Finally, choose one item from the list below. Write freely about the projects in this class in terms of that item for five minutes.

  • Logic versus emotions

The projects which we worked on in this class combined a use of both logic and emotions. It was not necessarily black and white, but more gray. The arguments we made came from a place of emotions, as do nearly all arguments on the internet. However, they key point in this class is to make sure we have a valid, researched, and accurate argument. Being on the internet, there are a variety of sources of information for people to take into account. The best thing that people can to to make sure that they are correct is to find the facts related to the argument, and follow them logically. We have seen when keeping track of twitter hashtags outside of the class, that arguments on the internet seldom use facts. Instead, it is more so "shouting into the void" their opinions, and using little facts to back it up. I felt that many speak for the sake of speaking, rather than contributing something to the overall conversation. I can use this in my real life when looking at the internet, making sure that when I take arguments into account there are valid sources, and people are able to back their arguments with facts.
