Poster Art From World War Two
The War posters talked about in this section are provided by the National Archives Powers of Persuasion Exhibit. They deal with a number of themes but are inspired by the large purpose
of promoting the war effort in 1940s America. Since a central question of our
class was "what is American literature?" these posters helped us complicate our
definitions by bringing more rhetorical concerns into the equation. Thinking
about the purpose and audience of these posters and their messages allowed us to
ask the same questions about other more "literary" works.
